UConn women's basketball head coach Geno Auriemma, who missed Tuesday night's matchup against Butler because he felt under the weather, will also miss Thursday's matchup with Xavier, the team announced.

"It’s been an extremely difficult month for me, and I’ve been feeling under the weather and run down," Auriemma said. "I thought I was ready to return, but I need a little more time. I’m going to take a step back to focus on my health and will return when I feel ready."

Thursday's game against Xavier will be the fourth this season that Auriemma will miss due to illness.

Chris Dailey will continue to coach in Auriemma's absence. Dailey is 16-0 in her career when filling in for Auriemma.

"He’s just not feeling well. I haven’t talked to him since we left," Dailey said on Tuesday. "I don’t know if he’s feeling better, I’m hopeful that he is but that is all that I know right now. We’ll talk to him when we get back."
