UConn men to host Oklahoma State in Big 12-Big East Battle

May 19—The UConn men's basketball team will play in the Big 12-Big East Battle for the second straight year, hosting Oklahoma State.

The non-conference game will take place on Thursday, Dec. 1, at either Gampel Pavilion in Storrs or the XL Center in Hartford. Game time has yet to be determined.

It will be one of 10 games in the annual battle between the two conferences. The matchups were announced on Thursday.

Last year, UConn lost at West Virginia, 56-53.

It will be the third meeting between UConn and Oklahoma State, first since the 2016 Maui Invitational. OSU won that game, 98-90. OSU also won an 80-64 meeting in the 1970 Bayou Classic in Lafayette, La.

The Cowboys will return their top two scorers from a team that went 15-15 last season. The Huskies, who went 23-10 and qualified for the NCAA tournament in 2021-22 will bring back five players, including All-Big East first team pick Adama Sanogo, and have five newcomers.

UConn also is scheduled to play in the previously-announced 2022 Phil Knight Invitational Nov. 24-27 in Portland, Ore. Alabama, Iowa State, Michigan State, North Carolina, Oregon, Villanova and Portland also are in the field.
