Aug. 10 (UPI) -- UConn guard Paige Bueckers, who posted a phenomenal freshman campaign, but missed the bulk of the last two seasons because of injuries, is medically cleared for 2023-24, the Huskies star announced.

"All cleared and ready for takeoff," Bueckers wrote Wednesday night on Instagram.

Bueckers, 21, joined UConn as the top high school basketball recruit in the class of 2020. She went on to log one of the best freshman seasons in Huskies history, leading the team with 20 points, 5.8 assists and 2.3 steals per game. She also logged 4.9 rebounds per game and made 52.4% of her shots.

The Huskies were the top seed in the 2021 NCAA women's tournament, but were upset by Arizona in the Final Four.

About eight months later, Bueckers sustained an anterior tibial plateau fracture and lateral meniscus tear in her left knee in the Huskies' sixth game of the 2021-22 campaign. She then underwent surgery and returned to the court less than three months later.

Bueckers went on to miss the entire 2022-23 season because of a torn ACL in the same knee. She sustained that injury in August of 2022 during a pickup basketball game.

Bueckers averaged 18 points, 5.1 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game over her first 46 regular-season appearances for the Huskies.

The Huskies, who lost to South Carolina in the 2022 national title game, lost to Ohio State in the Sweet 16 of the 2023 tournament.

The Huskies have yet to announce their full schedule for the 2023-24 campaign, but they will face North Carolina State on Nov. 12 in Raleigh, N.C.
