Tyronn Lue turned down the Lakers and Twitter had a field day

LeBron James won’t reunite with his old coach after all. The Los Angeles Lakers and Tyronn Lue have reportedly failed to come together on a contract, according to Yahoo Sports Chris Haynes. Lue was considered the heavy favorite for the position, and even celebrated his birthday with a Lakers cake.

With Lue now moving on, the Lakers are left scrambling to find someone for the position. The team’s other candidate for the job, Monty Williams, is no longer available after signing a deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Who does that leave? The Lakers were reportedly interested in bringing on Jason Kidd as an assistant under Lue. Now that Lue is out, Kidd could be the favorite for the position.

Twitter, however, had some other suggestions on how things should go down. Here are some of the best tweets after the Lakers-Lue fallout.

As you might expect, Twitter had a few suggestions about who should coach the Lakers next.

Some fans had a fun time with Lue deciding he was too good for the Lakers.

Others believed this will wind up being a good thing for the Lakers.

At least one person has some advice for Kidd.

Some people took it as an opportunity to comment on the Lakers’ disfunction.

On top of Kidd, the Lakers are expected to add Lionel Hollins, Frank Vogel and Mike Woodson to their coaching search, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.
