Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio reported Thursday that Watson “has quietly broached with teammates the possibility of requesting a trade,” which has naturally caused a stir among Bears fans.
After all, Watson was the one that got away. Rather, the one that general manager Ryan Pace blatantly let get away.
While Bears Twitter has been abuzz about what it would take to lure the Pro-Bowl quarterback to Chicago, they’re not the only ones. Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu weighed in on where he thinks Watson could wind up, and he thought Chicago was among the best landing spots.
If I’m Saints , 49ers or even Chicago…… I’m all in on this Watson news….

Obviously it would take a lot to lure Watson away from the Texans, including significant draft capital. But after decades of being stuck in quarterback purgatory, it’d be difficult to pass up one of the league’s young stars — for a second time.
But while Chicago would have their quarterback issue fixed, they’d be left with other questions on the roster as a result with the loss of draft capital.
Still, it doesn’t seem likely that it’ll happen. After all, Watson just signed a four-year, $156 million extension this offseason. There was also another report from the Houston Chronicle that suggested there’s no chance that Houston will trade Watson.
And while the Texans were stupid enough to trade receiver DeAndre Hopkins, they certainly wouldn’t trade away their franchise quarterback. Right?
