And Megill delivered with a solid first outing in the bigs, going 4.1 innings while limiting Atlanta to two runs on three hits with four strikeouts and a pair of walks.
He didn’t pitch the 5.0 innings required to qualify for a win, but Megill gave the Mets a big boost and made a strong first impression with his debut.
“A lot of emotions. It was exciting, it was fun, it was competitive. Had a blast while I was out there,” Megill said afterwards. “Couldn’t ask for any more.”
He later added: “The atmosphere was cool. It was amazing. You work your whole life for this and then you get the opportunity to do so and it’s almost like a dream come true, and now it’s just trying to stay here and make an impact.”
