Brooks Orpik is not done with the game of hockey just yet.

The Washington Capitals announced Monday that they have named former defenseman and two-time Stanley Cup champion Brooks Orpik to their Player Development Department.

As a member of the Department, Orpik will assist in developing Capitals' defensive prospects, mainly with the team's AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears, according to the statement.

"As a member of our team, Brooks was a tremendous leader and a great role model for our young players," Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan said in a statement. "We are excited to be able to bring him back in this new role. We feel he will be a great resource for our hockey staff and our prospects."

After 15 seasons in the NHL, Orpik announced his decision to retire in June following a knee injury.

Over the course of his career, Orpik won a Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009 and with the Capitals in 2018.
