Twitter reacts to Texas A&M’s 8-5 win over Stanford in the NCAA Regional
Texas A&M baseball once again climbed out of an early deficit to fend off top-seeded Stanford in an 8-5 win Saturday night. The Aggies have started 2-0 in an NCAA Regional for the first time in program history, and with one more victory can advance onto the Super Regional, where an enticing rivalry matchup could await them.
After Stanford jumped out to an early 4-1 lead by the fourth inning, the Maroon and White leaned on their bullpen and the heroics of Hunter Haas to storm back for the lead. Haas logged two hits against Stanford’s Drew Dowd, generating five RBIs that helped seal the victory for the Aggies.
Trailing 4-2 in the sixth inning, the Aggies evened the score off a two-RBI double from Haas that scored Minnich and Kaufer. With the game still tied in the eighth, Haas connected for a bases-clearing double that scored Austin Bost, left fielder Ryan Targac and Minnich to give A&M a 7-4 lead they would never relinquish.
The Maroon and White also overcame a rough start from the mound, as starter Justin Lamkin lasted only 1.2 innings, allowing three runs on two hits and four walks. The strike zone was tight in this game, but Lamkin’s tough outing was a factor in the Aggies’ hole early on.
Nonetheless, A&M turned to their three relievers in Aschenbeck (one unearned run on five hits and one walk in 2.2 innings), Brandyn Garcia (2.2 IP with just one walk), and Matt Dillard (one run on two hits, with one walk and a hit by a pitch in 1.1 IP) to keep the Cardinal in check, with the exception being one run in the ninth.
Here are the best social media reactions following Saturday’s victory over Stanford:
We could be in for a Lone Star Showdown sooner rather than later!
As a sports fan and my love of post season baseball…I hope A&M and Texas meet in the Supers.

Seems like a pretty good record, don't you think?
Fun fact: In two seasons as Texas A&M's baseball coach, Jim Schlossnagle has a 15-5 record in the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament combined.

3-run deficits are a breeze for this Aggies team
The announcer of this Texas A&M baseball game just said “It’s been a while since Texas A&M has overcome a 3 run deficit” and cited a game a while ago vs Auburn
They literally were down 3-0 yesterday lol

Aggies baseball, or the comeback kids?
correct me if i’m wrong here but i’m pretty sure A&M is 7-0 in their last 7 regional / super regional games. And all 7 wins were come from behind wins

Aggie hoops' Henry Coleman giving Coach Schloss his flowers!
There’s good coaches then there’s great coaches @CoachSchloss. Bringing guys together when it matters! Having a culture that is through the team and through the school! BLUE COLLAR UNIVERSITY!!

The only question remains: who would host?!
We're one win away in Coral Gables and one win away in Stanford from an @AggieBaseball vs. @TexasBaseball super regional. pic.twitter.com/V0jc06PCMq

Absolutely spot on, even though it's Brandyn*
As much as the @AggieBaseball pitching staff has struggled at times this season, what Nate Yeskie has done with Brandon Garcia is pretty impressive. He's turned into an absolute dude from the left side — heater up to 96 mph, nasty slider at 85-87 mph. Fun finish in Stanford.

National media disrespect for the Aggies? What else is new
These announcers definitely don’t think A&M belongs in the regional or don’t know how to handle it. And they were in the final four in Omaha a year ago.

Pretty good...Prettaaay, Prettaaay Good
Got tight late but A&M hangs on and they take down No. 8 national seed Stanford to move to the regional final.
Aggies are looking mightyyyy good. https://t.co/AVUk4hr9Vn
