The blows just keep coming for the Chicago Bears. After back-to-back brutal losses and a mini COVID-19 outbreak that sidelined some important players, the Bears will now be without outside linebacker Khalil Mack.
Mack has been battling a foot injury suffered back in Week 3. While he’s been a regular on the injury report — and hasn’t practiced — he’s always been ready to go on game day.
But now, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Mack is not expected to play this week against the San Francisco 49ers as he nurses that foot injury. Even worse? According to Rapoport, there are discussions about placing Mack on injured reserve — which would sideline him three games — as he lets his foot heal.
As you can imagine, this news is not going over well with Bears fans, who are taking this as a sign the season is already over — and some wondering, at this point, how things could get worse. Let’s not tempt fate, shall we.
It's all down hill from here. https://t.co/YmKKSsQqnT

Injuries are hitting every team hard.
None bigger than this. https://t.co/A2oqSpgnJn

Whew, this is brutal with such a critical slate of games coming up.
Sunday's game against San Francisco just got a lot tougher.
If Mack goes on IR, they won't have him against PIT or BAL, either.
I'm sure those will go well. https://t.co/2IACTxHKnC

What was the point of him playing tge 2nd half last week then https://t.co/bOImPlfJ7P

Mack's been playing through everything these last few weeks. Hopefully this means good news on the Robert Quinn front too. https://t.co/Dx4pUeLuu0

Big blow for Mack. Would have to imagine it is pretty bad considering we've seen him battle through injuries.
Chicago has very, very limited depth on the outside. https://t.co/uOj6zUak8S

They wasted his prime not being able to find him a QB https://t.co/ZAY4E4gWrv

What’s worse is that the Bears don’t have a 1st round pick. So they can’t even tank. https://t.co/J1Xp6Ky8nf

Their season cooked anyway. Might as well rest him https://t.co/p6stSUWhEZ

Mack has looked notably less explosive at times this year and now we know why. We just saw how a foot injury derailed Quinn last year. Hopefully this gives him time to heal up and get back to his elite dominant self for the back half of the season #Bears https://t.co/jg3YqhrLtt

Ryan Pace: I have assembled a defense with only one legitimate NFL corner but that's okay, my pass rush focused primarily around three different 30+ year old pass rushers shall compensate for it with unrelenting pressure. Now to sip my coffee and check today's injury report https://t.co/jaGpkWylCx

Us: “The Bears lead the league in sacks!!”
Football Gods: “Bet. Give Robert Quinn covid and put Khalil Mack on IR”

Not even upset. It's whatever. Rest up tho Kahlil. Much rather have you healthy than out for the year. https://t.co/q91NphBEqf

If it is three weeks, just another reason for the Bears to be sellers.
Though, we all know they don’t want to be. https://t.co/JlLoFAXjSE

Does this qualify as a bomb cyclone?
Not sure “when it rains, it pours” really covers what’s happening to the Bears right now. https://t.co/NCjyIkdxZW

Tanking and we don't even have our pick this year. Please please please just fire nagy already. We're losing crucial development weeks for Fields. https://t.co/meJeAgxnwR

Mack, Hicks and Quinn. The big 3 out most likely. What a joke https://t.co/r8HD3MHv4Y

Quinn on the COVID list, Mack out 1-3 weeks. Bears defense already looked awful Sunday, it's only gonna get worse now https://t.co/fzdRkM7VpY
