Is it too early to say Notre Dame is breaking out of its offensive funk? Probably, but anything seen as progress is cause to celebrate. Tied at 17 in the fourth quarter, the Irish put together their most impressive offensive drive of the season so far. In California territory, Audric Estime turned a pass from Drew Pyne into a 36-yard completion, which was followed by a 6-yard touchdown reception from Michael Mayer to give the Irish a 24-17 lead:

What followed easily was the loudest Notre Dame Stadium has been for anything on the field this season. We know the stadium is sold out, but can you imagine how much louder it would have been if even more people were able to fit inside somehow? No, it’s not saying a whole lot, but simply winning a game is the big goal right now. You’ll see that in these tweets about the Mayer touchdown:
That’s 1st round draft pick Michael Mayer when you talk about him #goirish

The debate between Brock Bowers and Michael Mayer is going to be fascinating but both have legit TE1 upside at the next level #devy
