Twitter And Major League Baseball Renew Streaming Deal

As the Major League Baseball season gets under way, Twitter has renewed its streaming deal, with Thursday’s Texas Rangers-Oakland Athletics game kicking off weekly live games.

The @MLB handle will host a Twitter game of the week, with out-of-market live streaming of daytime games, which will be simulcasts of participating teams’ local TV broadcasts.

The weekly games will be available in the United States for free to Twitter users and also on connected devices via live.twitter.com/MLB and @MLB. Twitter will offer advertising packages for the content to be made available to sponsors.

The move follows a similar alliance with Facebook Watch, which will see 25 weekday games streamed.

Again this year, MLB will also make real-time game highlights available for fans from @MLB on Twitter throughout the season, offering additional ways to follow all of the baseball action this season at home or on the go. Spanish highlights will also be available from @LasMayores throughout 2018.

One new element for 2018 is a new set of hashtag-triggered emojis for all 30 MLB teams.
