Tupelo overcomes slow start, heads back to title game

Feb. 29—JACKSON — Tupelo trailed Northwest Rankin by as many as 14 points in the first half, but the Golden Wave erased the deficit in a hurry.

Tupelo dominated the middle two quarters and survived a late Northwest Rankin comeback bid for a 54-48 win in the Class 7A semifinals on Thursday at the Mississippi Coliseum. Jade Rucker led the comeback with a team-high 18 points.
