Tuesday's Mets-Braves game delayed due to weather

The series opener between the Mets and Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night has been delayed due to weather.

The Braves announced the news minutes prior to the originally scheduled first pitch of 7:05 p.m. After initially not having a new start time, the team announced the game will start at 9 p.m.

"The start of tonight’s game will be delayed due to weather. We will pass along updates as soon as we have them," the team wrote on Twitter when the delay was first announced.

Carlos Carrasco, who is coming off back-to-back strong starts against the Phillies and Cubs, is on the mound for the Mets on Tuesday.

After his early-season struggles, Carrasco has thrown six-plus innings while striking out four and recording a win in each start.

Carrasco has lowered his ERA to 5.74, and he has a 1.37 WHIP through six starts this season.

For the Braves, Bryce Elder will be on the bump. Through 11 starts, Elder has a 1.92 ERA, tops in baseball, and  a 1.16 WHIP and 56 strikeouts across 65.2 innings of work.
