The Wolverines (4-1) outscored the Rattlers 13-4 in the period to open a 12-point halftime lead and kept Tucumcari (2-2) at bay from there. Senior Ayden Carey also reached double digits for Texico, scoring 10 points.

For the Rattlers, 6-foot-4 freshman Kamren Apodaca tallied 18 points, and senior Curtis Gonzales finished with 15.

In other Tuesday area boys tilts:

Dimmitt regained a 1-point lead briefly, but Farwell (3-2) put together an 18-3 surge that carried into the final segment and cruised down the stretch.

Senior Corey Stancell and Adrian Nunez had 18 and 12 points, respectively, for the Steers, while senior Alec Actkinson — who missed all of last season after breaking his foot in football and missed the first four games this year recovering from a football-related ankle injury — made his long-awaited varsity debut and posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds.

High scorers for Dimmitt (4-4) were seniors Ivan Moreno with 13 points and ConLer Willey with 11.
