CHRISTOPHER CRAWFORD: Let's be honest, you were not expecting David Robertson to have fantasy significance in the year 2022, and for good reason considering he was borderline irrelevant for the better part of the last five seasons. Seemingly out of nowhere, however, Robertson earned the closing gig for the Cubs. I mean, he's converted all four of his save chances while not allowing a run over the first few weeks of the year. It's not like the 37-year-old hasn't had success before.

He was one of the best closers in the sport from 2014 to 2016, but considering he'd appeared in all of 26 games from 2019 to 2021 with a 4.82 ERA, it's more than understandable that fantasy managers didn't count on the right-hander helping. He's earned as a result so far, as well, ranking in the top 10 percentage in they expected batting average allowed, breaking well above average in generating WHIPs and strikeout percentage. This could all come crashing down in the coming months, if not weeks, but Robertson has earned this closing job well he's not likely to give it up any time soon.
