Troup-product Lindsay Davis gets a save in McNeese's 6-5 win over Houston

Feb. 29—HOUSTON — Former Troup High School standout, Lindsay Davis, came on in the top of the 13th inning Wednesday night in Houston and preserved a win for McNeese State University.

The Cowgirls (11-4) nipped University of Houston (12-5), 6-5, in 13 innings.

Davis, a 5'-9" right handed pitcher, came on with one out in the final frame and faced three batters to earn her second save of the season. The sophomore recorded one strike out and didn't allow a hit or a walk.

Davis has appeared in seven games this season and has started on four occasions. She has a 2-2 record and an earned run average of 2.41 over 20.1 innings of work in the circle, has fanned 11 and walked seven.

McNeese will be playing in the LSU Purple and Gold Challenge beginning at 1:30 p.m. Friday when the Cowgirls square off against San Diego State.

McNeese will also face Illinois, LSU (twice) and Louisiana Tech in the tournament, which is slated to run through Sunday.
