Troup Baseball moves to 5-0 following 16-2 win over Jewitt-Leon

Feb. 25—PALESTINE — Carson Davenport launched a three-run home run to help send Troup to 16-2 win over Jewitt-Leon Saturday to conclude play in the Howard Estes Tournament.

The Tigers improved to 5-0 with the win while the Cougars dropped to 1-4.

Eli Swan and Carter Graves combined to shutout Leon. Swan pitched four innings and gave up two runs (one earned) on seven hits. He fanned four and walked one and was the winning pitcher.

Graves tossed the final inning and allowed one hit and struck out three.

Bryce Wallum went 3-3 with the bat for Troup and Ty Lovelady went 3-4, with a triple and an RBI.

Hayden Huml went 2-2 with a pair of doubles and a RBI while Graves laced a run scoring double for the Tigers.

Also contributing to the Tigers' offensive onslaught was Colby Turner (1B, RBI).

Troup did most of the damage in the third inning when it sent eight runners across the dish.
