Tribe Tennis opens spring season by competing in Tyler Legacy tourney

Feb. 13—TYLER — The spring tennis season got under way Friday for the Jacksonville High School tennis team, with the Tribe playing in the Tyler Legacy Varsity Tournament.

Competing in a most competitive field, Jacksonville's best showings were a pair of fourth place efforts.

In Boys "C" Singles, Danny Ramirez went 2-2 for the day to capture fourth place.

He lost to a player from Tyler Legacy 4-6, 2-6 in the third place match.

Also coming in fourth place was the Jose Meza/Joe Bentoski duo, who took part in Boys "D" Doubles. The Jacksonville tandem lost to Bullard, 8-1, in the third place match.

In Mixed "D" Doubles, Mayte Otero and Felipe Ortega defeated Kaufman, 8-4, to nail down fifth place.

Jacksonville will return to Tyler Friday for the Tyler High Varsity Tournament.
