Lance takes over as 49ers QB after Jimmy G exits with calf injury originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Has the Trey Lance era officially begun in Santa Clara?

When the 49ers came out of the locker room after halftime Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks, Lance warmed up with center Alex Mack as Jimmy Garoppolo looked on without a helmet. The 49ers announced that Garoppolo sustained a calf injury and was questionable to return, meaning the second half would be Lance's show.

The 49ers got the ball to start the second half and opened with a 15-yard run by Trey Sermon for a first down. However, three more runs yielded just 7 yards and the 49ers were forced to punt. Lance ran for 1 yard on his first drive and did not attempt a pass.

The 49ers and Seahawks were tied at seven heading into halftime.

Garoppolo went 14-for-23 for 165 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the first half.
