Tre Mann considered a lottery pick in CBS Sports’ latest mock draft

Tre Mann‘s late-season surge did wonders in putting him on the draft radar of a number of NBA teams. Though the former five-star recruit was once thought of as a potential NBA talent, a disappointing freshman season in 2019-20 dampened much of that hype.

But as a sophomore in 2020-21, Mann looked like a totally different player. After Keyontae Johnson was lost for the season, Mann stepped into that role as Florida’s on-court leader. He was the team’s most consistent scorer and ran the offensive more effectively than any other Mike White-coached point guard since at least Chris Chiozza.

After his second season silenced many of the questions freshman campaign raised, Mann made the understandable decision to jump to the NBA, a decision that seems like it’s going to pay off. In the latest first-round mock draft from CBS Sports, Mann is projected as a lottery pick (albeit the last one at 14th overall). Here’s the rundown of him as a prospect.

Memphis adds an intriguing combo guard in Tre Mann, who offers potent scoring from the guard spot. Mann is a threat to score it from every level because of his ability to pull up and get his shot from anywhere, from deep in 3-point range to around the cup with good touch on his floaters. He’s also made strides as a passer.

After averaging just 5.3 points as a freshman, Mann bumped that up to 16 his sophomore season (leading the team). He was also a force on the defensive end, averaging 1.4 steals.

Florida hasn’t had a player drafted in the first round since 2012 (or at all since 2013). With Mann, both of those droughts are almost guaranteed to come to an end. The only question is how early will he be off the board in the first round.
