It’s no secret that Ronda Rousey attended the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens dressed as a stormtrooper since the former UFC star posted a picture on her Instagram for all the world to see. But, on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Rousey talked about what she left out of the post: the very sad reason she was forced to remove the mask before entering the theater.

Rousey explained that she was asked to take her mask off because, in the wake of multiple mass shootings, they thought she might be a shooter, so the policy was no masks allowed. It’s no surprise that the theater was concerned. The blockbuster premiered on December 14, 2015, less than two weeks after 14 people were killed in a mass shooting in San Bernardino, Ca., in a year that was tragically full of mass shootings. Rousey took off her mask just enough so security could see who she was, and they snuck her in the back once the lights were out in the theater, but the mask was still not allowed.
