Trade paying off: Seahawks' Jadeveon Clowney has a nice pick-six

When the Seattle Seahawks traded for Jadeveon Clowney, they knew it might be for just one season.

That’s fine, if he’s going to make big plays like he did on Sunday.

Clowney, who wouldn’t sign his one-year franchise tender with the Houston Texans and then got traded to Seattle right before the season, had Seattle’s first touchdown on Sunday.

Clowney reached in and grabbed a pass with one hand, hauling it in and then taking it 27 yards to the end zone to give the Seahawks a 10-0 lead. It was Clowney’s first career interception.

Clowney, who cost Seattle edge rushers Jacob Martin and Barkevious Mingo and a 2020 third-round pick in the trade with Houston, had been off to a relatively slow start through three games, though he had one sack. Sunday showed the impact Seattle was investing in when it traded for the former No. 1 overall pick.
