Maryland has several Terps starting around the NFL that are making an impact on their teams week in and week out. Washington Redskins tight end and Terps great, Vernon Davis, has come up with some big plays for the hometown team in his past few games, but he and his teammates got some time off on Sunday with a Week 5 bye.
There were other Maryland alumni though that displayed their talent in the NFL this week and two even played against each other while another found paydirt. Here’s a look at how former Terps football players performed in Week 5 of the NFL regular season.

Torrey Smith -- Philadelphia Eagles, WR
Smith hasn’t exactly resurrected his career yet in Philadelphia, but he took a big step in the right direction Sunday by posting three receptions for 70 yards and his first touchdown of the season in the Eagles 34-7 win over the Arizona Cardinals.
Smith’s 59-yard score showed that he still has the speed to get separation from defensive backs, and now he has a quarterback that can deliver the ball, something he was missing at his last stop in San Francisco. He now has 13 receptions for 204 yards and a touchdown on the season.
Smith also had one of the more creative touchdown celebrations that you’ll see this year, paying homage to the ongoing MLB Playoffs.
