The West York graduate had a final chance to break the tie on uneven bars, but was given a deduction on her landing for a 9.9125.

Update, March 31: Trinity Thomas took herself out of the floor exercise after the first run on Friday night in Pittsburgh.

The West York graduate was competing in her final NCAA gymnastics regional for second-seeded Florida. Thomas, who is the defending national champion in floor exercise, uneven bars and all-around, is wrapping up her COVID senior season as a graduate student.

Thomas completed her first pass without any apparent issues. She made a few moves on the mat and stopped after making a turn. Gymnasts normally continue their routine after a fall or stop, but Thomas did not.

There was no immediately word on her condition, but she walked gingerly off the mat with the help of her coach and trainer. Officials confirmed that Thomas went directly into the medical area after leaving the arena floor.

Bree Edwards moved into Thomas' spot for the third rotation, the vault.

The West York graduate could have called it a career and focused on her graduate studies. But she took advantage of a fifth "COVID" year and has a chance to reach additional team and individual goals.

The Gators nearly won the NCAA team title last year, finishing .112 behind Oklahoma. Individually, Thomas is chasing the national record for perfect scores.

After scoring a dozen 10s last season, Thomas came into the season with 20 for her career. Kentucky's Jenny Hansen and UCLA's Jamie Dantzscher are atop the list with 28 each.
