'Fake' atmosphere falls upon deaf ears
Tottenham were unbeaten at home last season, but it is one Premier League game at Wembley and one defeat for Spurs this term. Other than most people wondering how on earth they lost, the big question to arise from the Wembley experience was who on earth was banging that damn drum? The answer is that it was a genuine drum being played next to a microphone. But that does not change the fact that Tottenham should scrap it and trust their fans to make enough noise to make Wembley intimidating, which, at times, they did. Just four months ago, Antonio Conte caught out Tottenham by loading his substitutes’ bench with Diego Costa, Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas to clinch an FA Cup semi-final place. This time, without all three of those players for different reasons, Conte asked David Luiz to play in midfield and Chelsea completed the perfect smash-and-grab thanks to two goals from Marcos Alonso.

We hear a lot about how much Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Danny Rose are worth, but what price Mousa Dembele? The midfielder ran large parts of the game for Spurs and, in this market, even with his injury record, Dembele’s value would be enormous.

Kane will be wondering how on earth he did not net his 100th Tottenham goal and his first in August. The striker hit the post and terrorised the Chelsea back three. If it had been September, Kane would have probably left Wembley with the matchball.
