Serving as a benchmark measurement of owner satisfaction with new-vehicle quality, the J.D. Power Initial Quality StudySM (IQS) is conducted annually. The study measures owner-reported design and defect problems with new vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership.

The information collected by J.D. Power forms the basis for the company’s Power Circle Ratings, which summarize the study’s findings in a simple, visual, easily referenced way. During the new-vehicle research process, consumers can use these ratings to make the right decision about a new car, truck, SUV, or van.
