On Wednesdays, we'll introduce the students who make up Year 8 of High School Confidential, powered by Danville Area Community College. Next: LeRoy's Emily Bogema. Follow her on Snapchat (@e_bogema22) and Instagram (@emilybogema).

One of the perks that come with writing for High School Confidential?

"It's really cool being treated as a celebrity by my classmates," Emily Bogema said.

That was clear at Sunday's Faces of the Winter event in our newsroom, when Bogema — holding a News-Gazette that included her byline — was surrounded by proud Panthers aware of her journalistic feats.

"The best part about being a High School Confidential writer is it allows me to be more aware of school events," the talented senior said. "Before this, I would not have paid attention to schoolwide events, like field trips and art contests."

A future lawyer who lists Iowa, Illinois State and Illinois as college options, Bogema excels in both academics and athletics (volleyball, golf, basketball, softball).

The best thing about living in LeRoy is that "everyone looks out for each other, and there are so many events anyone can participate in," she said. "The small community allows me to participate in many extracurriculars, whereas at a bigger school, you are more limited."
