On Wednesdays, we'll introduce the students who make up Year 8 of High School Confidential, powered by Danville Area Community College. Next up: Uni High's Knox Mynatt. Follow him on Instagram (@knox.mynatt).

To start the school year, we asked each High School Confidential participant to finish the following sentence:

In 10 years I hope

to be ...

"On the sidelines of a major sporting event taking photos," was Knox Mynatt's response.

The talented senior is way ahead of schedule. In December, Knox did just that for The News-Gazette, covering the Illini men's basketball game against Colgate at State Farm Center (above).

"Having the opportunity to shoot Illini basketball was such a great experience, and I feel like it has really helped expose me to a professional environment," he said.

Knox is headed to Missouri to major in journalism. A three-sport athlete at Uni — cross-country, basketball and track — he also enjoys photographing sporting events. He was on the sidelines for several prep football games last fall for us and has more assignments on tap.

"I think the best part about covering UI and prep sports for the News-Gazette has been getting the experience at a professional level submitting work for a newspaper, especially one that I have grown up reading and seeing photos in," he said.

Did you know?

"I collect vinyl records," he said. "I started over quarantine with buying a bundle of Boy Pablo albums for Christmas, along with my first record player. Since then it has expanded drastically, and my collection has increased to a total of about 70 albums — and a better record player to listen to them with."
