On Wednesdays, we'll introduce the students who make up Year 8 of High School Confidential, powered by Danville Area Community College. Next up: St. Joseph-Ogden's Mya Bott.

Mya Bott's using her role with High School Confidential as a springboard to bigger and better things. The talented senior plans to study in journalism in college.

"I love taking pictures," she said.

This year's SJ-O yearbook will be stuffed with her work as Mya's been on the sidelines for many a sporting event. She's been involved in journalism at SJ-O all four years, ramping up her efforts as a senior.

"The best part about writing for the High School Confidential is when my classmates get excited because they were in the newspaper," she said. "There have been times when kids have shown me themselves in the newspaper, and it's a good feeling knowing I put it there."

When not working, she's cheering on the Spartans as part of the vibrant student section, the Maroon Platoon. It's "the best student section around because of our energy. When we get excited we go crazy," she said.

She makes the commute to SJ-O from her hometown of Royal, "where everyone looks out for each other," she said. "Growing up, all of the neighborhood kids would be able to run around knowing we were safe and an adult nearby would always be looking out for us."
