CATCHER

Jason Castro - Houston Astros (vs. Cleveland Indians - SP Jean Carlos Mejia)

The NBC Sports Edge MLB DFS optimizer has been very accurate as of late. Tonight, Jason Castro of the Houston Astros comes in projected for 5.2 fantasy points at $2,200 on DK. Jason Castro will have opportunities to rack up fantasy points along with the rest of the backend of Houston’s lineup. Considering his low salaries on not just Draftkings but FanDuel and Yahoo as well. You must consider him simply to help your salary flexibility.

Other option: Victor Caratini

FIRST BASE

Eric Hosmer - San Diego Padres (vs. Cincinnati Reds - SP Luis Castillo)

Cronenworth has been on fire. has averaged 14.3 DK PPG over his last 10 games. Over the span, he’s batting .351 with a 1.319 OPS. Eric Hosmer is batting 8 for 13 with one home run against Luis Castillo. A small sample size? Yes. With that said, if he’s hitting in front or behind Cronenworth, he could easily benefit by receiving better pitches to hit. A sneaky DFS strategy.

Other option: Freddie Freeman

SECOND BASE

Jake Cronenworth - San Diego Padres (vs. Cincinnati Reds - SP Luis Castillo)

There are some players in the major leagues at the moment who are simply on fire. Kyle Schwarber is one of them with Cronenworth and Joey Gallo being the other two. These three players have exhibited extremely impressive stats over the last week and I expect them to continue to do so tonight. Gallo homered this afternoon. Schwarber is facing the Los Angeles Dodgers for a salary of $5,500 on Draftkings. Schwarber will be one of my top outfielders but until then let’s discuss Jake Cronenworth. Jake has averaged 14.3 DK PPG over his last 10 games. Over the span, he’s batting .351 with a 1.319 OPS. When players get on streaks like this, it does not only affect their play but the batters hitting in front and behind them. This is the reason I am interested in Hosmer and Tatis tonight. San Diego’s second baseman does not show signs of slowing down against Cincinnati's Luis Castillo. Castillo has had solid efforts against Atlanta, San Diego, and Milwaukee over his last four starts (saw Milwaukee twice), but the streaky baseball players are tough to stop. The San Diego Padres are now facing Luis Castillo for the second time in 13 days. The San Diego Padres are a team that I will be seriously interested in tonight for GPP and cash game purposes.

Other option: Abraham Toro

THIRD BASE

Justin Turner - Los Angeles Dodgers (vs. Washington Nationals - SP Patrick Corbin)

Batter vs. Pitcher stats (or BvP) can be deceptive. You’re never fully sure where or when these at-bats occurred. With that said, it’s hard to ignore BvP stats in specific situations. Justin Turner is batting .371 in 35 at-bats against Patrick Corbin. Over these at-bats, he has four doubles and two home runs (only striking out four times). The Los Angeles Dodgers are favored by -145 with a 9.5 O/U courtesy of PointsBet.com. Turner has averaged 7.5 DK PPG over his last 10 games and has yet to homer in his last 37 at-bats. Justin Turner is due. Los Angeles’ third baseman has a high salary of $5,300 but is currently a lock for me.

Other option: Manny Machado

SHORTSTOP

Fernando Tatis Jr. - San Diego Padres (vs. Cincinnati Reds - SP Luis Castillo)

Tatis is the perfect filler to a San Diego Padres stack. With my top plays within this stack being Hosmer, Cronenworth, and Machado, Tatis becomes an easy roster in this narrative. Tatis is averaging 15.1 DK PPG over his last 10 games. San Diego is my top stack of the night.

Other option: Robel Garcia

OUTFIELD

Michael Brantley - Houston Astros (vs. Cleveland Indians - SP Jean Carlos Mejia)

Michael Brantley is projected for 10.4 fantasy points at a salary of $3,900 tonight on Draftkings. Brantley is not the only Houston player present in our optimal lineup. In fact, four Houston Astros are present in our optimal cash lineup tonight (and yes, Jason Castro is one of them). Michael Brantley has a shockingly reasonable salary at the moment and his matchup against Cleveland’s Jean Carlos Mejia is favorable. The Houston Astros are going to be a popular stack tonight, make sure you grab the right pieces of this offense for optimal exposure.

Kyle Schwarber - Washington Nationals (vs. Los Angeles Dodgers)

Kyle Schwarber is unstoppable at the moment. Tonight he faces the Los Angeles Dodgers but does it really matter who he faces at this point? Regardless, he’s worth exposure simply because of his recent game logs. Schwarber has 10 home runs over his last 10 games averaging 18.2 DK PPG. Over this span, Schwarber is batting .341with 15 RBI. Lock in Kyle Schwarber if you have the salary. It’s that simple.
