Top Florida QB target moves announcement date back

Florida’s been trending in the right direction with four-star quarterback Jaden Rashada recently. Still, the Gators will have to wait a bit longer to find out if their efforts were enough to land a commitment after the Pittsburg, California, recruit moved his decision date back from June 18 to June 26, his grandmother’s birthday.

Rashada will make his announcement on CBS Sports HQ at a time yet to be determined. His top seven is now a top five: Florida, LSU, Miami, Ole Miss and Texas A&M. The Gators recently anchored a week filled with three official visits, including meetings with the Tigers and Aggies. The Rebels hosted him in late April, and Miami is trying to get him on campus this week with some extra time on their hands.

Miami’s late push is a bit concerning, but Billy Napier has done as much as he can to bring Rashada to Gainesville. The West Coast recruit is Florida’s apparent top target at the quarterback position with most other quarterbacks in the top 10 having shifted their attention elsewhere.

Rashada has also shut down his media availability until his announcement. He’ll use the time to reflect on his lengthy recruiting process and make the best decision for his future.

The 247Sports composite ranks him as the No. 7 quarterback in the country and the No. 45 overall recruit in the class of 2023.
