Top-10 prospect Justice Carlton gives Texas its first pledge for the 2024 recruiting cycle
The college basketball season doesn't tip off until November, but the Texas women still picked up a big win this past weekend.
According to a source close to the situation, Texas has received a commitment from Justice Carlton. Carlton is a 6-2 forward who will be a senior at Katy Seven Lakes this winter.
Carlton has not yet publicly announced her college plans. She visited the Texas campus over the weekend.
Carlton is rated by ESPN HoopGurlz as the No. 7 recruit in the Class of 2024. She is the highest-rated Texan on that list. The daughter of former Baylor standout Kacy Moffitt, Carlton had previously listed Arizona, LSU, Texas, South Carolina and UConn as the finalists for her services.
Carlton is the founding member of UT's Class of 2024, and she immediately becomes one of the highest-rated recruits of the Vic Schaefer era at Texas. During the 2021 recruiting cycle, Aaliyah Moore and Rori Harmon were considered the sixth- and 10th-best prospects in their class. Forward Madison Booker was ranked 12th among last year's recruits.
