Tony Ferguson has revealed a matchup with Michael Chandler is in the works for later this year.

Ferguson (25-6 MMA, 15-4 UFC), a former interim UFC lightweight champion, wrote on social media Saturday that he’s been in discussions for a showdown with Chandler (22-7 MMA, 1-2 UFC) in April or June.

The matchup had yet to be reported publicly, but when Chandler answered a fan question on Twitter about his desire to fight Conor McGregor, it prompted Ferguson to put his cards on the table and question whether the former Bellator champ really wants to fight (via Twitter):

There’s My Bitch!!! @MikeChandlerMMA The Brass @danawhite @ufc Relayed Your Message Saying You Would Be Ready For Me April/June. Looks Like Your Trying To Delay That Ass-Whoopin’ I Owe Ya For Cutting In Line Kid- It’s Wrestling Season MF, Man Up- Champ

Ferguson, 37, is currently in the midst of a three-fight losing skid. After going on a 12-fight winning streak, he’s dropped bouts to Justin Gaethje, Chandler Oliveira, and Beneil Dariush.

Chandler, 35, for his part, has lost back-to-back bouts to Gaethje and Oliveira after winning his UFC debut vs. Dan Hooker in January 2021. The Gaethje contest was the Fight of the Year for most, while the Olivera bout was for the vacant UFC lightweight belt.
