The Patriots made a significant upgrade at wide receiver in signing Antonio Brown, but the move hasn't been devoid of criticism.

Brown, who has forced his way out of two organizations in less than a year, isn't exactly the kind of player people want to see rewarded with a spot on a perennial contender like the Patriots.

Former Buccaneers and Colts head coach Tony Dungy offered his thoughts on the Patriots' blockbuster signing, and it's safe to say he was disappointed in New England.

"I coached 13 years, and every year my first message to the team was, ‘We want to win the Super Bowl, yes, we want to be talented, but we have to be role models'," Dungy said.  "These kids in our country look up to NFL players and coaches, and I really think this sent the wrong message."

It will be up to the Patriots to absorb Brown into their locker room and teach him the Patriot Way. The Steelers and the Raiders couldn't make it work where his talent outweighed his off-field antics, but if there's one team in the NFL that can, it's New England. The question is, should Brown even get the chance to play this season for the way he's acted?

"I know coaches want to win but I'm disappointed in Robert Kraft," Dungy said. "I think at some point you say, ‘Just as an organization, we're not going to do this.'"

Dungy seems convinced the Patriots are setting a bad example choosing talent over everything in this case. Whether he's right or not, winning tends to heal all wounds, and the Patriots sure do know how to do that no matter who's on their roster.
