TOM BRADY: I'll get to the point right away. I'm retiring for good.
JARED QUAY: Well, it's official. Tom Brady a.k.a. the GOAT has finally retired. Hold up. Hold up. That was on February 1, 2022. But on February 1, 2023--
- Well it's "Groundhog Day."
JARED QUAY: Because the GOAT Tom Brady was back at it again.
TOM BRADY: I know the process was a pretty big deal last time. So I won't be long-winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay. And I used mine up last year.
JARED QUAY: My man really must have wanted to give his all for the "80 for Brady" press tour. Sheesh.
TOM BRADY: Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn't change a thing. Love you all.
JARED QUAY: Damn, man. Tom's tears making me weepy, man.
- Well, back to work.
JARED QUAY: Let's review some of Tom's career highlights. Brady went to 10 Super Bowls. Winning seven of them becoming the first player in NFL history to win a Super Bowl in three different decades. And his stats over the duration of his career, even at the end were off the charts. It's going to be really weird not seeing Tom under center every Sunday. And I'm especially going to miss Tommy's tablet tossing tantrums because those were the best.
Oh, yeah. I can't forget about this absolutely insane courtroom sketch of Brady from the Deflategate trial.
- Classic.
JARED QUAY: Brady's contemporaries showed him plenty of love in the wake of his retirement part deux. Like this tweet from another legendary two time retiree, Rob Gronkowski. And this invitation from JJ Watt letting Tom know where he can join the guys for golf and beers on Brady, of course, because Brady's richer.
Speaking of Justin James wide and TB12, you know who definitely isn't retiring right now? Aaron Rodgers.
AARON RODGERS: Let's see if I could-- oh, there's no lesions whatsoever.
JARED QUAY: Rodgers is salty about sharing the quarterback room with Jordan Love. So no way he wants to share the spotlight with Tom Brady and JJ Watt in the same Hall of Fame class. You know what I'd like to see? Tom Brady in the broadcast booth calling Packers games analyzing Rodgers.
[GIGGLING]
- Yeah.
JARED QUAY: Remember, Tom already has his next gig lined up with a 10-year, $375-million contract with FOX to be an analyst on their NFL coverage. Tom, if you need tips, I'll coach you for free. I was a football player became a broadcaster. So like same as you. And I have acted too, man. And I'm wondering why you didn't call me for the "80 for Brady" movie, man. I think I made it hotter. I'm not saying it's a bad movie. I'm just saying I put a little more sauce on it, you know?
I think Jane Fonda really don't put this spin on it like I would. She's great. But I don't know if she could do what I can do.
