Tom Brady, Gisele Bündchen confirm divorce

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady confirmed Friday morning that he and Gisele Bündchen are divorcing after 13 years of marriage.

Brady shared a post on Instagram explaining the situation, asking for privacy for his family as they go through the difficult time, and making it clear that both parties resolved the situation amicably.

“We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration,” Brady said, adding, “we only wish the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written.”

“We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children, who will continue to be the center of our world in every way,” Brady said.

Bündchen made a statement of her own on social media confirming the news:

After a brief retirement earlier this offseason, Brady announced 41 days later that he would be returning for a 23rd NFL season. Brady and the Bucs lost their third straight game Thursday night, falling 27-22 to the Baltimore Ravens.
