Todd Bowles sees a bright future for Giants’ Shea Tierney

The New York Giants have a deep bench when it comes to Brian Daboll’s coaching staff.

This offseason, both of their coordinators, Wink Martindale (defense) and Mike Kafka (offense), were serious head coaching candidates and several others were hired away by other teams.

One assistant that was interviewed but missed out on being hired was quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney. He interviewed for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator vacancy which eventually went to Dave Canales.

Tierney impressed Bucs head coach Todd Bowles during the interview.

Tierney runs a high-functioning quarterbacks room that will likely include Daniel Jones again as well as backup Tyrod Taylor. The Giants are likely to add to that room through the draft or free agency this spring.

Should the Giants’ offense continue to make great strides again this year, Kafka will be in the mix on the carousel for another head coaching gig. That will give Tierney either a shot at the Giants’ coordinator job or perhaps another team’s.
