·2 min read

Derrick Henry is a big fan of fans and hard work. The Tennessee Titans running back also is a fan of his fans' hard work.

But when he tweeted Monday that he was interested in artwork and "creations" from his followers in Twitter, Henry hardly envisioned the response that followed.

While he wouldn't say how much he has spent on items as a result of the tweet, he did express gratitude for the magnitude of response.

"Just wanted to reach out and see if anybody had anything," he said before practice Thursday. "They made cool creations that should be worth a lot."

Did they ever. People responded by showing paintings of Henry, among other things. Henry followed up with some of them, buying their work as promised.

"I appreciate the response I did get from all the people," Henry said. "People are creative and they put a lot of work into their art."

One person posted a photo of a painting of several Titans, including Henry and Ryan Tannehill, and wrote, "Would love to paint something for you @kinghenry_2."

Henry replied in kind: "Let's do it!"

Another person posted four pencil drawings and offered to do one of Henry, who replied, "I need it!"

The responses went on and on. As of Thursday afternoon, his original post had been retweeted more than 900 times and liked more than 16,000 times.

That prompted Henry to follow up his original tweet with a thank you.

"I'm not gonna lie, I did not expect this to blow up like it did," Henry tweeted Tuesday. "I might not be able to buy everyone's creations, but I do appreciate y'all."
