The Jacksonville Jaguars endured a lot of change this offseason and made several new additions, but despite that, many in the football community don’t think they are ready to make a big leap just yet. With the team coming off having the worst record in football two years in a row, it’s understandable why they feel that way.

However, there are a few out there who believe the Jags have a lot of potential. That includes a player who plays in the same division and knows them very well in Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan.

In a recent episode of his podcast entitled “Bussin with the Boys,” he told his co-host Will Compton and guest Michael Chandler that the Jags have some players who the football community may be sleeping on. And while he didn’t put a record prediction out there, he did say he wouldn’t be surprised if the AFC South is competitive this year.

“The Jaguars are a team that at any moment could be good,” said Lewan. “I’m telling you, dude, the AFC South is a sneaky competitive division. Could be a sneaky competitive division. They got players over there dude, they got dudes over there who you got to be like ‘O.K. Alright. What are we going to do about this guy?”

Lewan has always been a player who keeps a close eye on the Jags throughout his career. That said hearing him praise the Jags means a lot because he’s definitely done the research.

The Jags weren’t shy with their free agency approach and spent a record amount of money to bring in several notables like Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Brandon Scherff, to name a few. Then in the draft, they added Travon Walker, Devin Lloyd, and Chad Muma among notables.

Lewan probably has previewed the Jags’ defense especially due to playing on the offensive side of the ball. In the process, it was probably hard to miss how they added several players who help them against the run like the three aforementioned rookies and free-agent additions Foley Fatukasi and Foysade Oluokun.

So, when looking at those players and how they can help the Jags with their well-documented issues against Titans running back Derrick Henry, Lewan just might be right.
