Titans best Beavers for seventh place at Class A tourney

Mar. 9—BROOKINGS — Reagan Rus and Emilee Fox's big afternoon paved the way for Mount Vernon/Plankinton's seventh-place finish at the Class A girls basketball state tournament on Saturday at the Dacotah Bank Center.

As the dynamic pair combined for 50 points, MVP ran out to an early lead and never looked back, notching a 60-49 win over Region 5A rival Hanson in which the Titans led wire-to-wire.

Kyia Schmidt pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, and Berkeley Engelland chipped in four points and six rebounds. MVP finished the season with a 19-7 record.
