'Time for an exorcism in our nation’s capital': Bruce Springsteen wants Trump voted out of office

Bruce Springsteen says he doesn't know how Donald Trump did it.

“A good portion of our fine country, to my eye, has been thoroughly hypnotized, brainwashed by a con man from Queens,” said Springsteen on the Wednesday episode of his SiriusXM E Street Radio show, “From My Home to Yours.” “You mix in some jingoism, some phony patriotism, fear of a Black planet, vanity, narcissism, paranoia, conspiracy theories and a portion of our nation undergoing mass delusions and teetering on violence, and you’re left with the greatest threat to democracy in my lifetime. How did he do it?”

The theme of the show, titled “Hail to the Thief,” was the upcoming election and Halloween.

“Welcome ghouls and fools, witches, vampires, bloodsucking politicians, zombie denizens of Washington, DC, it is time for an exorcism in our nation’s capital,” Springsteen said. “In just a few days we'll be throwing the bums out. I thought it was a (expletive) nightmare but it was so true.”

Bruce Springsteen: President Trump doesn't understand 'what it means to be American'

The setlist included “Martian Hop” by the Ran-Dells, “I Put a Spell on You” by Nina Simone, “My President is Black (Remix)” by Jay-Z, “Liar, Liar” by the Castaways, “Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved” by James Brown, “This Land is Your Land” by Woody Guthrie and the pro-Trump rap song, “Trump is Your President” by Bryson Gray.

“A short message from the opposition,” Springsteen said when introducing “Trump is Your President.”

Gray is from North Carolina and is known for wearing a giant red foam MAGA hat. Springsteen, who released the album “Letter to You” on Oct. 23, also read the poem “The Gray House” by Elayne Griffin Baker.

“There are no pets in this White House,” Springsteen said, reading from “The Gray House.” “No loyal man’s best friend. No Socks the family cat. No kids' science fairs. No times when this president takes off his blue suit-red tie uniform and becomes human, except when he puts on his white shirt-khaki pants uniform and hides from Americans to play golf.”

Election Day is Tuesday.

“Remember, America, this is our moment,” Springsteen said. “Vote.”

Upcoming airings (all ET) are 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday; midnight, 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday; 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday and midnight and 8 a.m. Tuesday.
