Timberwolves believe they are the best fit for Sixers star Ben Simmons

The stalemate between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers has continued into training camp as the 25-year old star has not reported to the team for media day nor the first day of training camp on Tuesday.

As the standoff continues and Simmons waits for a trade to materialize, there is one team out there that believes he is the perfect fit for their roster.

Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic stated on his podcast “The Jon Krawczynski Show – A Timberwolves podcast” that new president Sanchin Gupta believes that Simmons does fit their roster/

Per Krawczynski (h/t HoopsHype):

(Sachin Gupta) absolutely is a fan of Ben Simmons. He was in Philadelphia when Ben Simmons first got there. I do think that overall, just the organization’s position is that Ben Simmons is a perfect fit for their roster for what they need and what Ben Simmons needs from a team around him. So I do think that they are going to continue to pursue Ben Simmons aggressively, I can’t say, you know, 100% that, you know, they’re in the driver’s seat, or it’s going to happen or anything like that. But I do know that the dismissal of Gersson Rosas has not poured any cold water on their pursuit of Simmons, they really think that he can be a difference maker.

The issue is that in the past, the Timberwolves have been unwilling to part with Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell, or Anthony Edwards in order to acquire Simmons. Maybe with Rosas out of the picture, that will change, and they will move forward with their pursuit of Simmons. It is the only real way Minnesota would be able to acquire him unless they can get a third team involved in the deal.
