Tigers roll past Indians for 2nd straight win

Jan. 25—Carthage struggled to find a win in the Bill Hanson Memorial Tournament in Pittsburg, Kansas, last weekend, but the Tigers claimed a win on Saturday over Pittsburg in the seventh-place game.

Carthage (8-10) earned a second straight win by racing past the Indians (2-18) of Seneca on Thursday night at home, 59-17.

Lexa Youngblood led the Tigers by scoring 17 points. Other players in double figures were Alexis Jenny and Lauren Choate with 10 apiece.

Seneca's leading scorer was Daelynd Campbell with 8.

It was a defensive battle to start the game as Carthage held a slim 8-6 lead after one quarter. The offense started to click in the second quarter to hold a 24-10 lead at the half. It exploded for 28 points in the third and the game was out of reach before the fourth quarter began at 52-14.

Carthage is back in action at 6 p.m. Friday night at McDonald County. The Mustangs were 13-4 heading into their matchup with Neosho on Thursday night.
