Jan. 30—A strong defensive performance put the Tahlequah Tigers back in the win column over Pryor on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

THS celebrated senior night with a 65-38 win over PHS.

The Tigers started the game with a back-and-forth showing with PHS. After leading 8-2 through the first five minutes, THS was sitting nicely. Towards the end of the quarter PHS caught fire making a pair of quick field goals to make the deficit 10-7.

After PHS got the score within one, THS rattled off five straight to take an eight-point lead. PHS hit a three-pointer before the buzzer to cut the lead to 15-10.

THS defense showed out in the second quarter. THS quickly extended the lead to 22-11 after just three minutes in the quarter. That pace kept up with the Tigers picking up another 5 points to take a 27-11 lead.

It took PHS nearly six minutes to find their first field goal in the second quarter. PHS ended with just six points in the quarter as they trailed 42-16 going into halftime.

We talked about how we were maybe a step slow. We stepped up and got active with our hands, exactly what we wanted to do," THS Head Coach Duane Jones said.

THS continued to hammer down shots on PHS to pick up the win as they cleared out their bench.
