The greatest matchup of 2003 is coming to your television the day after Thanksgiving 2018, as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson do battle for a cool $9 million prize. We’ve known about the matchup for awhile, and now we have the details.
The pay-per-view will have a “suggested retail price” of $19.99, and will start at 3 p.m ET on Nov. 23. Held at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, the head-to-head match play showdown won’t be open to the public. Sunset in Las Vegas hits about 4:38 local time, meaning the event won’t finish up under lights.
Woods and Mickelson will be able to supplement the winner-take-all $9 million pot with side bets like longest drive and closest-to-the-pin competitions, with the winnings going to each golfer’s preferred charity. Woods is by far the more decorated golfer, with 14 majors to Mickelson’s five, but Mickelson is second to none when it comes to hustling on the golf course. Neither player is at the top of his game any more, but they remain two of the top draws not just in golf, but in all of sports.
