Look, we don’t need to tell you that people are still somewhat obsessed with Tiger Woods. Being, at worst, the second-best golfer in the history of humanity means people want to see you play, even when you’re in the twilight of your career. Why’s there such concern with Woods sporting the tape?

Woods has suffered a litany of injuries in recent years, primarily focused on his neck and back. He’s had four back surgeries, and injuries have forced him to withdraw from several tournaments throughout the years. Woods has come back from his latest surgery with reliable, if not necessarily spectacular, results, but everyone following him is still holding their breath to see how long he holds together.

What does kinesio tape do?

Taping up muscles helps stabilize them and improve blood flow while not restricting the range of motion. Everyone from Olympic volleyball players to Tom Brady has used the tape to help with healing and strengthening muscles, and now, apparently, so has Woods.

So how hurt is Woods?

Apparently, not at all, if you believe his camp. NBC’s Roger Maltbie reported that Woods woke up with a stiff neck prior to arriving at the course, and a bit of therapy and tape did the trick to get him ready to roll at the British Open.

False alarm? Perhaps. We’ll know soon enough whether Woods is 100 percent.
