Thunder rookie Jaylin Williams registers first triple-double in G League

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Jaylin Williams on Tuesday erupted for his first career triple-double to lead the OKC Blue to a win on assignment in the NBA G League.

Williams produced 21 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and three steals in a 112-108 victory over the Sioux Falls Skyforce. He finished by shooting 7-of-11 from the field, including 1-of-3 from 3-point range, in 31 minutes of work.

The 34th pick put up the 11th triple-double of the season in the G League with the performance. He had eight points, 11 rebounds and seven assists in the second half, and had a layup and some clutch free throws in the final minute to seal the win.

Williams recently missed one game due to a concussion suffered on Dec. 21 with the Blue in a 133-102 win over the Lakeland Magic. He was placed into the concussion protocol after that contest and was eventually cleared to return on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old has spent the majority of the season in the G League, making only seven appearances with the Thunder. He is averaging 14.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.5 steals on 62.7% shooting from the field in 12 games with the Blue.

Williams entered the season highly touted as a playmaker on both ends of the floor, and the former Arkansas standout flashed that ability with his latest effort. He continues to show improvement in the G League this season and is showing that he can contribute on a nightly basis.
