Thunder: Chet Holmgren underwent successful surgery on right foot

·1 min read

Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren underwent a successful procedure to address a Lisfranc injury in his right foot, the team announced on Tuesday.

The team said last week that he will miss the 2022-23 season.

Holmgren suffered the injury on Aug. 20 in the CrawsOver Pro-Am in Seattle, Washington. He was seen attempting to defend a layup attempt by LeBron James, but came up limping after the play and eventually left the game.

The Thunder initially feared the worst with the injury, and medical evaluations confirmed the extent of the damage. Thunder executive vice president Sam Presti expressed his disappointment for Holmgren and expects him to bounce back better than ever.

The Thunder remain optimistic that Holmgren will return at full strength for the 2023-24 season after suffering such a severe injury. The organization will now rally around him as he begins his rehabilitation period after undergoing surgery this week.
