The Oklahoma City Thunder announced that they have assigned Vit Krejci to their G League affiliate — the Oklahoma City Blue.
This is now Krejci’s seventh assignment with the Blue this season as he has barely played in any NBA games so far this season, totaling just nine minutes. The 21-year-old was taken 37th overall in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft and spent all of last season recovering from a torn ACL.
In 10 games with the Blue, Krejci has averaged 6.7 points and 5.3 rebounds a game.
As the Thunder roster is currently constructed, it is hard to fathom Krejci suddenly gaining consistent rotation minutes. Perhaps that will change after the trade deadline, but that is not the case as things stand. It is to both parties’ benefit to have Krejci play most of his game minutes with the Blue as he eases back into playing competitive basketball.
With the Blue playing their next game on Sunday, Dec. 19, there’s a real possibility that Krejci plays that game and gets recalled back to the Thunder soon after.
