Flying beer can narrowly misses Craig Kimbrel as closer exits bullpen during ALDS

Craig Kimbrel had an adventurous ninth inning in Game 4 of the ALDS, yielding two runs to the New York Yankees and frequently missing the strike zone, but ultimately coming away with a 4-3 win to punch an ALCS ticket for the Boston Red Sox.

And yet, there could have been even more intrigue, along with plenty of justifiable outrage, had Kimbrel walked just a step slower out of the bullpen.

As Kimbrel walked across the bullpen mound and prepared to enter the game in the ninth inning, TBS cameras captured an apparently full beer can landing just a few feet behind the Red Sox closer. Walking beside Kimbrel was a police officer, who seemed to notice the can as it flew toward the ground.

While the can’s origin is unknown, you have to figure it wasn’t just dropped.

This obviously wasn’t the only flying beer of note at Yankee Stadium this postseason, as a Yankees fan and A’s fan went viral with their friendship after the former threw a beer at the latter in the immediate aftermath of the AL wild card game. You can imagine Kimbrel and MLB might not be so friendly if they find the original owner of that beer.
